I’m incredibly excited to share that, Simental Industries Ltd. & EM Disaster Gaming reached a new major milestone. I developed a custom disaster wargame: Emergency Operations Center – Drone Swarm for the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
Supported by my gaming partners Todd Manns with The Blue Cell, LLC and Joseph Leonard, Jr. CEM, CGEMC, NEMEA, MEP, MCP, (CDR, USCG, ret.) with the Texas Exercise Support Team(TEST)/USCG LLC we facilitated a formal, evaluated disaster wargame exercise on an emergent national security issue spanning defense, national security, homeland security and emergency & disaster management.
The exercise included 37 participants spanning multiple agencies including the Air Force Office of Special Investigations Detachment, 21st Security Forces Squadron, 21 Civil Engineering Squadron EOD, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, TSA/Federal Air Marshal Service, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Springs Police Department, Front Range UAS Working Group, and others from Peterson Space Force Base, Fort Carson, U.S. Air Force Academy, and Schriever Space Force Base.
Using disaster wargaming we uncovered real gaps, capability issues, and developed solutions and tested interventions real-time. Players made decisions and then dealt with the consequences of those decisions across two campaigns in a dynamic scenario featuring a Red Team adversary. We featured our premiere line-up of features in this custom disaster wargame that included using ai for storytelling and visualizations, 3D modeling and printing, and a massive map using satellite imagery with a high spatial resolution.
Overwhelmingly, participants had a great time with a lot of engagement, and they had a lot of lessons learned and takeaways from the experience we'll be documenting in our Evaluation & AAR. We look forward to continuing to support the various agencies with upcoming future disaster wargame exercises spanning a range of issues across the convergence of national security, homeland security, emergency & disaster management.
