As a historian I have a love for all things Emergency Management and Civil Defense. There is so much amazing history tracing back to the founding of the field in WWI and WWII. When researching for my upcoming book the Definitive History of Emergency Management I came across some documents and photos of original Civil Defense awards, ribbons, and insignia. This sparked great excitement and interest to learn about our uniformed service origins... The original designs are unique and go back to a special time in U.S. history. I loved the original designs so much that I decided I have a limited run of these commendation bars made.
Our commendation bars are faithfully recreated and updated from the original woven Civil Defense Service Ribbons from World War II. These are unique pieces that were originally awarded for hours of service in Civilian Defense. With special award bars made for Deputy Air Raid Wardens, and Air Raid Wardens to commemorate their dedication, tireless vigilance, and wartime service.
