Frequently asked questions
How do you pick which events you attend?
Every year we look for new events and to spread the word about Disaster Wargaming to different audiences. We look for various events across the country from large professional disaster conferences, to state EM associations, and even gaming events! We start planning for the upcoming year in the fall through Dec. We require lead time to plan events, travel, and logistics but can accommodate requests with 60 - 90 day notice.
Do you donate games for charity, scholarship funds, and good causes?
Yes! We have donated over $12,000 in games and financial support to charity, scholarship funds, and love to support good causes. We occasionally support game donations for youth education.
Is there a cost to have you come to our event?
There is no "Direct" cost to have us come to your event. We like to negotiate support packages that are mutually beneficial for the event and us. We love host game nights ! What we ask for is free or comp'd registration for Dr. Simental and a support team of 3, a plenary speaking session where Dr. Simental can educate and present on what disaster wargaming is, and a booth space. What we offer in return is we are happy to host and facilitate a game night and will donate 5 games to the event for auction or giveaways. We are an extremely popular event attraction and get tons of interest from folks.
Do you offer training courses that you can provide at our event?
We are currently developing Disaster Wargaming Instructor Certification and training courses that will be available online, in-person, and hybrid offering 4 levels from beginner to advanced and game designer. These will be available starting late fall 2025. We are also working to be able to offer CEU's for our training.
Can Dr. Simental present on other topics?
Yes! Dr. Simental can speak on a variety of topics as an EM Historian, Research, Professor, and published author. Please reach out to inquire.
